Although Tahitian pearls are also called ‘black pearls’ their colours range from gold through greens to silver, aubergine or peacock, and to quite a dark black. Generally, the darker the pearl, the more valuable it is.
We are often asked for peacock green pearls however there are many different interpretations of the colour. If you think of a peacock feather there are many colours reflected. Peacock pearls will have a dark green body colour and overtones of peacock colours including pink and aubergine, like an oil slick. True peacock pearls are typically very expensive and rare, particularly in top quality.
